Waiting on the Lord

November 10, 2008

Danni is sleeping a lot these days, she still has somewhat of an appetite but its only at certain times of the day that she wakes up enough to eat. Those times are precious to us as we get some good interaction with her.

We sit with her constantly all day and all night watching and waiting for signs of life or death. She's very quiet because it takes a lot of precious breath and effort to speak. She's still eating and drinking so swallowing isn't a problem at this point.

She has a new infection on her belly that they can do nothing about except cover the wound and give her some antibiotics. She isn't running a fever and we are keeping her as comfortable as possible. Most times she refuses her pain meds but we continue to give her something for anxiety.

This is the point we are at and things are about the same or maybe change slightly every day. Waiting on the Lord.

I'm going to try and get some shut eye, sorry I don't have anything better to report. Thanks for all the continued prayers.
You are all very special people.

We love you very much and are waiting on the Lord - right along with you. May the Lord be very special to Danni's and give her sweet fellowship as He also waits by her side.

Hi Christy. Your family is in our prayers. I just wanted to say that your Nov. 8 post was incredibly moving. It was 100% obvious that you were writing from your heart and that the Holy Spirit was leading you. I can't imagine dealing with what you are all going through right now. But I can see that God's grace is definitely sufficient for you. His power is made perfect in the weakness of the situation. (seriously paraphrased from scripture) I know that God is using both you and Danni to bring people close to him. I know that as a mom, you must feel frustrated that you can't change the situation. You can only wait on the Lord. But I pray that you will all be covered with Peace and know that the God who spoke the world into existence and carefully knit Danni together in your womb is holding her in his awesome powerful and loving hands. The most important job of every mom is to try to point her children toward the Lord. You must feel such peace at knowing that no matter what happens, Danni belongs to Jesus and she has the promise of eternal life.
God's blessings of peace on you all today.
love,
jill

I am one of JJ Landis' coworkers and rarely miss one of your entries. I admire your faith and honesty as you post about your family's journey through this illness.

You are in our prayers.

So this morning I was driving into the work, and I was thinking and praying for Danni and you guys. And I started to think about the difference between what we see today verses what God will do one day in the earth (and as Jesus said it is already here.) Even though we go thru such pain and sorrow now, not seeing the fullness of God's plan, but ... there will come a day!

There will come a day

VERSE 1
Today
Our hearts are breaking
And we can’t see your plan
This world
Is lost and broken
Dying for a touch of your hand (but)

CHORUS
There will come a day
When you wipe every tear from our eyes
(There will come a day)
When all my fears just fade in your presence
(There will come a day)
When your glory shines on the earth
And every knee will bow before your Name
There will come a day

VERSE 2
One day
You’ll return for us
And our hearts will understand
So today
We’re watching and waiting
Praying let this be the generation (Cause I know that)

CHORUS
There will come a day
When you wipe every tear from our eyes
(There will come a day)
When all my fears just fade in your presence
(There will come a day)
When your glory shines on the earth
And every knee will bow before your Name
There will come a day

Even so come quickly Lord!
Even so Lord come!

I am itching to come over and play it for you!!! Matt G.

I check on your blog several times each day and pray a lot. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is with you and His grace is sufficient in ALL things at ALL times. I am praying for a miracle. My God is able. I am also praying that God's perfect will will be accomoplished and that He will receive glory. I know He has received much glory already through these past months. Yet, though all of this is so true, my heart hurts for all of you. I sing often in my spirit "For He is good, for He is good, for His is good to me." That helps me remember that no matter what is going on around me or what things look or feel like, God's goodness for me is still great. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me ALL the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." WOW!We love you lots and continue to pray.

My name is Josh Stidham... I went to Lakeland and was really good friends with Jackie and Danni in high school. When Danni dated Dyrek Wingate... he was one of my best friends. Danni is such a beautiful girl and always had such classy spunk about her... I pray for her a lot. I pray for her strength, and that God may let her realize that there are still a lot of people that think and care about her. WE love you Danni and will never be forgotten - no matter what.

Me too, others have said what is on my mind. Christy, you are an angle. Your words speak to us all. I pray for you as well as Danni. God is so great and so good. You must feel that love, it shows.
Matt, that song is perfect.
Thanks for sharing it with us too.
As always my love and prayers to you all.

I was introduced to your blog by someone i met playing scrabble online. When they mentioned this site, I was skeptical. Reading your entries though, it's inspiring how God has touched you and your family's lives. It's a horrible thing what has happened to your daughter, but your devotion and faith in the Lord is amazing. It's also great to see how many people are praying for her and for your family. Stay strong

You are touching people from all over, and through your pain you are bringing people to God. I know that you renewed in me a faith that I thought was lost. I am sorry that it took your pain to renew that . I am praying for her also.

I found your blog checking on an employees family member who is going through much of what your precious little girl is going through; I feel for your whole family, but, what strength and faith you have!
It brings my problems to nothing compared to your day to day struggles.
Please know that there are many strangers and friends praying for Danni; I feel like I know her through this blog.
God bless you all.
